GK Power

Rent a power bank from a GK Power station

Scan the QR code on a station, pay, and walk away with a charged battery.

GK Power power bank

How it works

  1. Scan the QR code on the station

  2. Pay with Mobile Money or card

  3. Return the battery to a GK Power station

The journey in detail

  1. Scan the station's QR code: its rental page opens in your browser. No account to create.
  2. Check the offer shown before any payment: the rate, the deposit and the total due upfront. A summary is shown before you continue; the rate displayed just before you confirm is the one that applies.
  3. Pay. Only your phone number (+243) is required. With Mobile Money, approve on your phone the payment request sent by the operator, using your PIN. With a bank card, you are redirected to the bank's secure page: no card details are entered in the app.
  4. Collect your battery: the station ejects it and the app shows the slot number. Pull the battery out of that slot.
  5. Return the battery to an online GK Power station with a free slot; the app lists them. The rental ends when the station confirms the return.
  6. Follow your rental with the “Suivre ma location” (Track my rental) link: status, duration, receipt and return deadline. The app is in French.

The deposit

The deposit is part of the total due upfront. It is kept separate from the rate.

Returning the battery before the deadline shown on the tracking page entitles you to a refund of the deposit (or of its balance, see below), in the original currency. After that deadline, the deposit is forfeited.

With a time-based rate, the charges are deducted from the deposit on return; the balance is refundable under the rental terms.

Payment

M-Pesa, Orange Money, Airtel Money, Afrimoney or bank card (Visa, Mastercard), depending on the station.
